Prior to the explosion of food delivery apps in the marketplace (UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub, etc) my team and I were tasked with designing a custom ordering experience for Milk Bar. For this project, we needed to determine if it was more profitable and cost-effective for Milk Bar to partner with one (or all) of the 3rd-parties in the space or to create a stand alone application. At the time, it seemed a better router Milk Bar to keep the consumer experience under their own control and strengthen its premium brand reputation. Today, however, it’s a very different story. It just made more sense for Milk Bar to be where the users are and to dissolve the app and partner with the big players in the space.
